I strive to understand my students’ educational backgrounds, goals, and reasons for studying music, as well as diagnosing the reasons behind any issues and habits in their playing.
In Confucianism, the proverb “Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime” reflects my goal of teaching: after certain training and study, students should learn how to become their own teachers. I believe that the best teacher is oneself, it is always my long-term goal to teach my students to gain the abilities and learn the skills to become their own teachers. Each individual possesses unique strengths, and as teachers, it is our responsibility to identify and nurture those strengths to their fullest potential.

My Teaching Philosophy
Looking at music education from a broader perspective, I strongly believe that inspiring intrinsic motivation is one of the most important missions, albeit a challenging one, for teachers. Inner motivation for music is the key to a long-term success in this field. Students from all levels and diverse backgrounds have different goals but all need to continue and discover their own success based on positive and solid motivation instilled through their education.

Justin Wang, 2024 KMTA 1st place winner in Grade 5-6
I maintain an open-minded approach to teaching, understanding that there isn’t always a right or wrong, black or white solution. I explore various methods to find what works best for each student, believing that flexibility is key to achieving effective results. In artistic interpretation, I encourage them to explore their own option and play it convinced.
Studio Policy
Limited Enrollment for Quality Teaching
I maintain a small studio of no more than 10 private students (Long Term Students) to ensure each student receives the highest quality of instruction and my full energy and attention.
The Importance of a Good Match
I believe a strong connection between teacher and student is essential for effective learning. I will schedule an interview for potential new students: I choose the students, and students should choose me as well.
High Expectations for Growth
I have high expectations for my students’ effort and commitment. Being disciplined, persistent, and responsible is important.
All Levels Welcome
I welcome students of all levels and backgrounds. It’s my job to help you overcome challenges and grow to your best potential. Your job is to bring your best effort and a willingness to learn. Together, we’ll work toward achieving your musical goals.
